As bridal store owners we are always on the lookout for new bridal lines that will suit our Okanagan clientele. It is always important to stay current and keep up with what is new and exciting in the bridal world. During our trip to Atlanta last year for bridal market, we became acquainted with the Watters, WToo, and Willowby bridal lines.
It is without question that when we saw these gowns walk down the runway our jaws literally dropped. We knew right away that we found something special, and something that our beautiful part of the world would really appreciate. The Watters group has a very distinct vision; they pride themselves on their esthetic being Napa Valley chic with a hint of whimsical romance. I can’t imagine any other wording suiting our part of the world better than that.
Right away we brought a couple of pieces in to see how they would do with our brides. Immediately we started noticing a very distinct trend towards these gowns with our customers, everyone asked about them and everyone wanted to try them on. Well we must bring in more we thought…so we did!
Fast forward to present day and we just completed our first ever Watters Trunk Show, and our second WToo and Willowby trunk show. Trunk shows are special because the designer sends us ALL of the gowns in their current season collection. This is such an amazing event to be able to hold because we unfortunately cannot bring in every gown they design as a stock piece. So to have a couple of days where the entire collection is in the boutique is really exciting for us.
We impatiently awaited their arrival, when we heard the doorbell ring we ran like maniacs. In came 3 big boxes, Christmas has arrived. We opened the boxes and unwrapped every gown with oohs and aahhs, we hung them up on our racks and immediately picked out our favourites, and we talked to them like they were human… ya that happened.
The trunk show weekend was especially exciting because it was the first time we were open Sundays. As of October 1st we will now be open seven days a week to make sure we can better accommodate everyone with their busy schedules.
As soon as our day opened on Saturday, we saw right away we were not the only ones who gravitated towards these gowns. Every single bridal appointment we had over the next two days really took advantage of the fact that these gowns were in the store and were going to be gone sooner then we all wanted.
Eleven brides said yes in two days and became our Bliss Brides, and I think it is safe to speak for everyone that we had an absolute blast with everyone who walked into our store over the weekend.
So while we can’t make every weekend a trunk show weekend, we are going to try our best to make sure we can host as many designer trunk shows as possible. Currently our next trunk show will be the WToo plus size line in January, and then Stella York in February.
So please make sure to follow us on social media that way you can keep track of all the events upcoming in our boutique!
